One Sunday night, I decided to create ‘Coultons Crafts’ on Instagram. I had no experience and very little knowledge of crafting. However, luckily I have a momma who knows everything and has everything. Since having my baby, my interest has been captured by the craft world and my momma has my been my teacher and inspiration every since.
Coultons crafts was created from my family name and the category I wanted to blog about. My first ever logo I designed was on PowerPoint, it was very rushed and lacked any creativity because I just wanted to be up and running as quickly as possible. I basically created an explosion of pink, with my name in any font and an image of buttons to relate to the category of crafting.
My second logo that I designed was more creative. I cut out hearts shapes from an old gift bag. Doing my part for recycling! I then displayed them onto a white table and took an image. The rest of the design, I created on live collage app, changing some of the affects and created the wording in a chosen font.
My lastest logo design, I asked my friend from Polkadot Party http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PolkadotPartyPaper to create a customised ‘Coultons Crafts’ blogging notebook. When I received the sketches, I liked that they were so creative to my blogging brand name and crafting tools that I then decided to re- launch my logo for the ‘Coultons crafts’ blogs. It is creative, quirky and girly, I love it. A thank you and a recommendation to visit Polkadot party’s Instagram page and esty shop for “stationery to bring a smile to your face”
My advice for creating a logo is to take your time, be creative, open minded and patient. The first go is not always the final go. There are so many options to create logos for free (on the computer, with free apps, online, you could also ask a creative friend/partner/family member to help develop an idea to a design) you can invest funds for a paid logo design (on app services, the web, small and large – design/marketing/stationery businesses) Even attempt it yourself, a handmade customised logo made by you for you! A logo represents your brand name along with an eye catching design to attract your audience. If your are selling a product or service, you can integrate relevant images to further promote your brand to attract your customer. A brand name and logo is for you to be proud of, question yourself to your likes, dislikes, refer to other sources for inspiration, use all the free sources available until you want to invest funds into a more long term profile, you could change your mind a year into your branded logo and decide to relaunch to attract more audience or re-promote your brand. If you don’t succeed first time try and try again. It will happen and it will be great!
To my follow bloggers and business owners. How did you design your logo? And what does your logo say about yourself or brand?
